In the aftermath of the 2022 floods on the North Coast of NSW, academics at Southern Cross University decided that the university had a role to play in helping the community recover.

The university already provided its campus and infrastructure as a safe refuge for residents during and after the floods, but saw there was also a need to support decision makers during the recovery process.
