Graduate market stumbles, retreats from recent highs

A fall in the number of roles, a rise in applications and the uncertain impact of generative AI have combined to create an unusual year for graduate employers, who are only now shaking off some of the impacts of COVID-19.

It’s estimated that, amid tough economic conditions, there were 1100 fewer graduate positions in accounting in the 2024-25 intake, a fall of about 26 per cent on 2023-24.
