What happens when your super contributions are too high
When last did you look at how much you're contributing to your superannuation fund? If it's not top of mind, it will become just that when you get a fine from the Australian Tax Office for putting in too much.
Remember, the super contribution rules changed last year. As of July 1 the concessional, or pre-tax, contribution cap was lowered to $25,000 a year for everyone. Before that it was $30,000 a year for those under 50 and $35,000 for those above.
