Beneficiaries of an estate can band together and agree to the assets being distributed in a manner completely different from the way the deceased wanted – so much for testamentary freedom.

The deceased can prevent this from happening in their will, but they don’t usually – or at least they are not fully aware of their ability to do so when they have their will prepared.
