Australians have halved their spending on essentials in the past year, but cutting a subscription to their favourite streaming service or ending takeaway meals appears to be a notch too far in the national belt-tightening.
CommBank’s latest analysis of what its customers are putting their money towards found spending on streaming services grew 13 per cent in the year to September, while food delivery spending climbed 6 per cent.
