Sneakers have emerged as an investible alternative asset class and Gabriel Roure, co-founder of rare sneaker retailer The Vault Sydney, says the most expensive pair he’s sold were Nike Air Yeezy Red Octobers for $45,000.

Only 400 pairs were made, and while Roure won’t disclose the buyer’s identity, he does say he’s an Australian billionaire who has featured in the pages of this publication.
