Every Friday, human resources professional Paul Di Michiel and his wife, Leearne, take themselves off on an adventure. Some weeks they go to the movies, others they visit a local gardening centre.
With their children grown, the couple wanted to spend more quality time together, so they moved to rural Bendolba in the Upper Hunter region of NSW and dropped back to a four-day work week, taking a 20 per cent pay cut.
