Exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which let investors buy bundles of shares that track an index or investment theme without picking individual stocks, are the biggest investment trend of the decade.

Vanguard data shows Australians have $153 billion invested in ETFs, up from $8.9 billion in 2013.
