Australia’s Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind says organisations risk falling foul of privacy laws if they enter personal information into generative AI tools such as ChatGPT or use personal data to train their AI models.

“Online chatbots or image generators are still really experimental technology. With the privacy risk associated with them, we wouldn’t recommend organisations use personal information in those tools,” Ms Kind said.
