Shorter weeks and free travel aimed at stopping ‘great resignation’

The introduction of four-day working weeks, hiring workplace culture specialists, and paying interstate relocation costs for engineers are some tactics Australian companies use to source and retain increasingly scarce tech talent, as new recruitment data shows one in four Australians are planning to change jobs in the next six months.

With salaries for tech specialists soaring across sectors because of a combination of a lack of immigration during COVID-19 and natural growth in demand, Australian companies are finding that even if they can compete on salaries, they have to offer staff additional incentives to retain staff.
