Shares in New York-listed, Australian-born bitcoin miner Iren fell more than 20 per cent overnight, after a short seller published a report attacking the company’s ability to use its data centres to house artificial intelligence chips.
The short seller, Culper Research, disclosed its short position overnight during US trading on Thursday in a report that alleged the “cash guzzling” bitcoin miner’s data centres were not fit for high-performance computing (HPC) needed for AI applications.
