OpenAI signed a multiyear agreement with Broadcom to collaborate on custom chips and networking equipment, marking the latest step in the start-up’s ambitious plan to add computing infrastructure.
As part of the pact, OpenAI will design the hardware and work with Broadcom to develop it, according to a joint statement on Monday (Tuesday AEDT). Broadcom shares leapt as much as 11 per cent after markets opened in New York.
