Ralph Norris was pleasantly surprised last month when Ian Narev, his successor at Commonwealth Bank and now Seek boss, said his approach to the job platform’s $180 million tech upgrade was guided by what he learnt from Norris.

Norris was in charge when Commonwealth Bank invested $1 billion between 2008 and 2011 to replace the bank’s core systems.
