The federal government's reluctance to use mobile phone tracking to check the effectiveness of the COVID-19 lockdown is in line with good data privacy practice, data privacy experts say.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Australia would not follow the UK down the path of collecting mobile phone location data from phone carriers, to see where people were congregating in contravention of the UK's own lockdown.
