Appen CEO apologises as tech failure leaves workers unpaid

The chief executive of embattled data services company Appen has apologised to its large pool of contractor workers who have not been paid more than a week after their latest wages were due.
The company has a massive remote contractor workforce, with workers manually reviewing data used to train AI models for technology giants including Meta, Apple and Microsoft.
