Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy has told the technology giant’s staff that the company will inevitably employ fewer people as artificial intelligence becomes more sophisticated and said white-collar workers need to improve their ability to use the new tools in order to keep their jobs.
Jassy, who succeeded Jeff Bezos in 2021 after building the company’s massive cloud computing business, told staff in a memo that Amazon was already using AI in hundreds of ways, predicting that the workforce would be significantly different in the future as those uses increased.
