Neighbours selling together make a $1.7b prize, but it may be too late

Real estate agents say there has been an influx of home owners banding together and selling to developers making use of new planning rules in Sydney.

Mario Gabrael is selling his house. But he’s not selling alone. The entire street seems to be on the market and, if their properties are sold together, the residents of Tanderra Avenue, Carlingford, could be in for a major payday.

Over 15 lots and three streets, Gabrael and 14 other home owners are putting up a massive block in an area designated by the NSW government as a priority development zone. If a developer swoops in, each property could sell for $2.6 million, or $400,000 more than if sold separately.
