Lunch is a two-minute drive from one project that construction company head Alison Mirams didn’t want to take on: Ribbon, a Sydney hotel at Darling Harbour with the troubling distinction of having had two contractors – first Grocon and then Probuild – go into administration while leading the job.
The two failed builders had bigger problems than Ribbon, a project that little-known Adelaide developer Greaton secured with Grocon in 2016. But Mirams makes it clear she wasn’t going to let her upstart building company go anywhere near that one, despite snapping up six unfinished Probuild projects in Melbourne.
