Qube chairman snaps up neighbouring cattle farm for $15m

Coal mining veteran and Qube Holdings chairman Allan Davies has added almost 1500 hectares of prime grazing country to his cattle and sheep farming enterprise at Walcha in the NSW Northern Tablelands, as good seasonal conditions encourage farmers to expand.

Mr Davies, who co-founded Excel Coal with Financial Review Rich Lister Tony Haggarty and Andy Plummer in 2002 and then sold it to US giant Peabody Coal for $US1.34 billion four years later, acquired the neighbouring farm known as Mirrabooka at 311 St Leonards Creek Road.
