Hostplus shuts property, infrastructure funds as valuations plummet

Industry superannuation giant Hostplus is closing its standalone property and infrastructure funds amid a reckoning over inflated valuations of Australia’s commercial property sector that experts predict could wipe billions of dollars from office tower values.

The fund told its 1.68 million members that the closure was driven by “a range of factors”, including concerns around investment risk, rebalancing and complexity in unlisted assets.
