Sydney train strikes banned – at least until July

The Fair Work Commission has suspended rail unions’ industrial action against Sydney Trains until July 1 to end a cycle of public recriminations over commuter disruption.

The FWC full bench found on Wednesday that a suspension would be in the public interest and take the heat out of the long-running dispute, including “false” union claims that Sydney Trains’ refusal to pay workers on a go-slow amounted to a lockout.
