NSW Liberals eye reforms to prevent another election debacle
Desperate to avoid a repeat of the 2022 election wipeout where internal feuds delayed a series of critical preselections, the NSW Liberals are considering a raft of changes that proponents say will make the party “bulletproof” against the factional issues that derailed the last campaign.
Federal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton told NSW Liberal officials in early June that a round of preselections conducted on the eve of the election had been “completely unacceptable” and urged the executive to do everything in its power to avoid a repeat of divisions that defined the 2022 lead-up.
