Matildas show we can shoot for men’s World Cup: Gallop
The Matildas’ stellar World Cup run has lifted Australia’s chances of hosting the men’s equivalent and should embolden policymakers to be more ambitious about the competitions they chase, NSW’s new stadiums boss David Gallop says.
A week after being appointed to head Venues NSW, the powerful state government agency which controls stadiums including the Sydney Cricket Ground and Accor Stadium, Mr Gallop said the economic benefits and popular success of the Women’s World Cup showed Australia should be confident about bidding for major events.
