Leaders condemn terror attack, call for calm
Islamic leaders “unequivocally condemned” the stabbing of an Assyrian orthodox bishop in Sydney’s west that was livestreamed to church followers and drew out a violent mob who pelted police officers with rocks and other projectiles.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and senior police officials called for calm after a 16-year-old boy, believed to have been motivated by religious ideologies, attacked Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel of the Christ the Good Shepherd Church on Monday night.
