Industry Minister Greg Hunt has warned Australia's struggling industries against expecting taxpayer-funded rescue packages or "raising the drawbridge" for protection in a tough global economy.

However, Mr Hunt signalled that government loans to industries in "sectoral transition" could still be available under the Turnbull government's industry plan.
