Rachel Noble is the director-general of the Australian Signals Directorate. ASD is part of the Defence portfolio and undertakes foreign signals intelligence, cybersecurity and offensive cyber operations.

Founded after World War II, after it was determined Australia must have its own intelligence capacity, ASD is a highly regarded member of the Five Eyes signals intelligence alliance. The agency is now 2500-strong, up by 500 from five years ago, and through the $10 billion REDSPICE upgrade is now a key player in the digital war era Australia is confronting.
