Why do I have to pay more for others’ free childcare?
Readers’ letters on who bears the cost of childcare subsidies; bitcoin going mainstream; the BCA and populism; the cost of nuclear energy; CFMEU members’ fears; and the benefits of hip replacement.
I take my hat off to families of yesteryear, able to raise their children despite the absence of the funding largesse demanded by today’s parents (“Free childcare is a myth”).
Non-parents already fund generous parental leave of mums and dads on top of subsidising the family and schooling assistance required until someone else’s child matures to occupational independence.
