Opposition frontbencher Paul Fletcher says the Liberal Party has a duty to rebuild its fortunes and prevent Australia becoming a multi-party state in which it can take months to form government.

After Saturday’s NSW election meant the party was now in opposition in every mainland state and territory, as well as federally, Mr Fletcher echoed the views of fellow moderates that the federal party needed to duchess the centre where elections were won.
