Tuesday’s budget is of about the usual quality of vote-buying pre-election budgets. Although Treasurer Jim Chalmers says the budget is being strengthened, this year’s deficit will be bigger.
The planned deficit reductions are all in the highly uncertain future. And the more detailed budget papers say the budget will remain in structural deficit for another decade.
