The fake women’s safety summit
To really stop domestic violence, set reduction targets. Some accountability would make state governments and service providers quake in their boots.
Pru GowardColumnistThe National Summit on Women’s Safety was the country’s chance to tell Australian governments what they wanted from the new 2022 National Action Plan. After two days of impassioned debate, it ended in the usual Labor states v Coalition government pile-on and everyone walked away unscathed.
The one contribution the summit might have discussed that would make all governments quake in their boots was a reduction target for domestic abuse.
