Tony Smith's dad Alan was passionate about Chryslers. Valiants to be specific. But it was a red, 1972 HQ Monaro that caught his teenage son's eye as he flipped burgers in a suburban Melbourne fast food joint in 1986.

"I spotted this beautiful red Monaro in a car yard. I decided I just had to have it,'' Mr Smith recalled.
