Sydney’s New Year fireworks may be axed over train strike
Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks show was thrown into doubt on Friday after police warned of safety concerns if planned industrial action brings the nation’s biggest rail network to a halt on its busiest night of the year.
NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb flagged the dramatic intervention after union work bans disrupted the rail network in NSW on Friday morning as part of a long-running pay dispute with the Minns Labor government.
