A $50-a-fortnight bump to the JobSeeker unemployment benefit looks set to sail through Parliament with reluctant support from Labor and the Greens.
But in an early indication Labor would push for further increases, it backed a Greens Senate motion on Wednesday calling for the rate to be lifted above the poverty line, a move that would add billions of dollars a year to the cost.
