The drugs regulator has issued the first approval for a coronavirus vaccine in Australia, but global supply challenges mean the national rollout will begin at the end of February, about a fortnight later than expected.
Questions are also being asked about the effectiveness of the available doses, with the Morrison government unsure whether vaccinated people could still carry and spread the virus, delaying opening of international borders.
