Nats must reunite with Libs sooner rather than later
The prospect of prosecuting their agenda is made more likely if the Nationals end their self-imposed exile and recombine with the Liberal Party as soon as possible.
It would be in the best interests of the Liberal and National parties to heed former prime minister John Howard’s advice to “reform as soon as possible and resolve their policy differences within the framework of a coalition”.
His warning follows the historic split between the two parties, which ends one of the world’s most successful political partnerships that has endured for most of the last century, since the original Coalition agreement between the Nationalist and Country parties in 1923.
