Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein is promising a return to budget surplus in 2022-23 in the dying days of a state election campaign that may see the Liberals fall short of majority government.

With the Apple Isle going to the polls on Saturday, Labor leader Rebecca White, after a rocky start, is imploring Tasmanians to look beyond Mr Gutwein’s successful management of the coronavirus pandemic and consider the Liberal government’s record in office over the past seven years.
