Letters: Polluters need to pivot at once
The big emitters, safeguard mechanism and Peter Dutton; BHP and company tax; Albanese government’s trajectory; defence spending; offshore detention; robo-debt.
Woodside CEO, Meg O’Neill (also chair of APPEA, the voice of the oil and gas industry), will invest more in clean energy if returns are “high enough” (“Woodside CEO says clean energy spend is ‘appropriate’” , March 9).
The scientific evidence is overwhelming: there can be no more fossil fuel projects. Woodside is Australia’s second-largest emitter. The industry clearly isn’t keen to transition from fossil fuels unless it’s profitable.
