Labor will need to find a new candidate for one of its most marginal seats that Prime Minister Scott Morrison is targeting as a possible pick-up for the Liberals to haul the Coalition out of minority government.

Veteran backbencher Julie Owens announced she would not recontest her seat of Parramatta at the next election, which she held by just 3.5 per cent.
