There was little love lost between the business community and the Coalition when the Morrison government was defeated in May.

Some in the Coalition complained that business had gone “woke” on progressive social agendas and on climate change. Business felt the Coalition flicked the switch to political populism to kick the private sector whenever it suited, such as when Scott Morrison hit the banks with a special tax “because nobody likes you”.
