‘Gobsmacked’: tribunal panic after judge’s resignation

The registrar of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal says he was “absolutely gobsmacked” when former president Fiona Meagher resigned last year after only eight months in the job.
In dramatic late-night evidence at Senate estimates on Wednesday, Michael Hawkins said he “shed a tear” when Justice Meagher broke the news to him soon after midday on November 30.
