‘Dysfunctional’ Administrative Appeals Tribunal abolished
The Administrative Appeals Tribunal will be axed and legal challenges against federal government decisions sent to a new body with a merit-based appointment system.
Describing the AAT’s standing as “irreversibly damaged” by dozens of political appointments from the former Morrison government, Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said a new entity would be created through legislation next year.
