Supermarket giant Woolworths wants an inquiry into how prices for fresh fruit and vegetables are set in Australia, saying greater transparency is needed about the costs paid to farmers.
Welcoming federal Labor’s move to make the food and grocery code of conduct mandatory for big players, Woolworths said better information about price-setting practices for fresh produce was needed.
