NAB staff to return to office at least 2 days a week

National Australia Bank will require staff to come into the office for two to three days a week next week as part of its new hybrid working model and ANZ has taken a non-prescriptive approach.

In an email to staff on Wednesday, NAB group chief operating officer Les Matheson told staff that after testing working patterns late last year, the bank would move to its hybrid model from Monday.

“This means a blend of 2-3 days a week from the office and 2-3 days a week at home,” he says.

The model will be different for roles that demand more time on site.

“It will be important for all of us to plan carefully how we use our time in the office to get the most of your time with colleagues.”

ANZ chief risk officer Kevin Corbally has told staff they need to return regularly to the office from next week but wouldn’t put a number on it.

“While we expect our people who have been working remotely until now to start connecting in our offices from March 1, we’re not being prescriptive about what returning to our offices will look like in any given week,” he said.

“We’re taking an approach where you and your team can determine what makes sense - as long as it means you are connecting regularly and frequently, face to face, in our workplace.”
