Corporate Australia wants an extra $3.5 billion spent on childcare to help ease the cost burden on families, boost female workforce participation and deliver $5 billion in economic gains.

The Morrison government has revealed it is considering spending billions of dollars more on childcare subsidies in the May budget above the $9 billion it already spends every year.
