Dutton faces down big business as he threatens to break up insurers
Peter Dutton has threatened to break up the country’s insurers and suggested they are taking advantage of consumers in an intervention that puts the Coalition at odds with big business ahead of the federal election.
The opposition leader has previously accused Woolworths and Coles of price gouging, and wants to introduce powers that allow the government to force the supermarket giants and other retailers to divest assets, prompting warnings from executives about “performative” attacks on business.
