Composers say film and TV tax changes strike the wrong note

Australia’s screen composers fear they are set to lose out from changes to tax breaks for local film and TV productions, warning popular documentaries will struggle to be produced under higher rebate thresholds.

Set to be considered by Parliament this week, the package designed to boost screen work in Australia would see the $500,000 threshold for the post-production, digital and visual effects (PDV) rebate increase to $1 million.
