Opposition energy spokesman Ted O’Brien says the sheer upfront cost of nuclear energy requires taxpayers to build and own the seven nuclear power plants the Coalition is pledging, as he committed to release an economic case for the policy by the end of the year.
Mr O’Brien said the business case would go beyond initial costings and the year-end promise would allow adequate time for scrutiny before the election, due by mid-May.
