Anthony Albanese looks set to call on state and territory governments to help deliver further household energy cost relief, flagging a possible extension of last year’s joint deal to lower power bills around the country.

With the budget again being framed around cost-of-living assistance for households and small business, the prime minister told a conference in Sydney on Thursday a deal agreed with the states in December 2023 had been effective in lowering prices.
