A surge in COVID-19 deaths in residential aged care is set to continue for weeks, with the federal government urging families to consent to critical vaccine boosters ahead of a new omicron wave and winter flu infections.
More than 560 people have died in residential aged care since late last year, and more than 30,000 staff and residents have been infected around the country.
