After months of resistance, Qld signs on to $2.8b schools package

The Albanese government has locked in a plan that will pour an extra $30 billion into schools over the next 10 years to lift childhood literacy and numeracy, and improve school completion rates.

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli finally agreed to the funding package on Monday after three years of intense negotiations and shortly before the federal government calls an election. NSW signed earlier this month, while all other states and territories agreed to the plan last year.
